Lasting Resilience In China

In the face of a complex and uncertain operating environment, international companies in China will need to do more to remain resilient, says Al Gabor, current chairman of the American Chamber in Shanghai and InterChina Senior Advisor.

  • What it takes to be resilient in China is changing.
  • It starts with having the right kind of leadership in China, investing not only in the China team but also colleagues supporting China from outside the country.
  • Aligning with HQ on the role of the China franchise in the global organization, including how China should contribute to the global innovation process.
  • Building optionality into investment cases to enable a company to move faster or slower as required, or make big or small investment decisions when they arise.
  • Many international companies will need to do more to ensure they have that all in place.
